DASH services and localpad

Knowledge based accreditation scheme

In response to the Governments introduction of the 2004 Housing Act, DASH Services was formed to provide support to Local Authorities in undertaking their statutory duties. The service is a joint working initiative with Local Authorities, property owners, landlords and tenants, with the aim of improving housing standards in the private rented sector.

With a partnership approach sitting at the heart of the scheme, and key objectives including landlord engagement and the harmonising of housing standards, localpad was an obvious choice to facilitate the delivery of the project.
Initially launching in the East Midlands region, the service has achieved unforeseen success and has since expanded both its remit and geographical area; now working in partnership with more than 40 local authorities across the country.

The feedback received from service users reflects this achievement:

“DASH services are easily accessible, and the content is knowledgeable. It helps us to share our experiences with other local authorities.”
“Very useful service to look at best practice, and signpost landlords to. Staff very professional, helpful and approachable.”
"DASH is a great asset to the East Midlands, it has been and continues to be at the forefront of promoting housing standards.”

DASH Services recently carried out a survey to quantify how well the service was delivering against its aims and values, and the results speak for themselves:

Over 81% of our clients very satisfied with the service that DASH offers
66% agree that accreditation has made a difference in raising housing standards in their area
77% agree that accredited landlords are more knowledgeable of their role and responsibilities
66% of respondents agree accredited landlords provide a better service to their tenants
